Dreamwalking - he doesn't have prophetic dreams of his own, but he can enter those of other people and observe. If he's noticed by the person whose dream he enters, he can interact with them within the context of the dreamscape. At present, he has poor control over his abilities, and can't really control where he ends up. Also, a dreamseer of moderate power would be able to expel him from their dream, if they chose, as he hasn't got the fine control to attempt to keep himself there if they did.

Radek was the only son of a pair of musicians from then-Czechoslovakia, who considered him the best thing that had ever happened to them and split all of their free time between doting on him and teaching him all the basics of music. Their hope was that he'd be as talented as they were, or better yet, more so.

And it seemed their prayers were answered; they started him learning to play just a few instruments decently, all of which he did well at. When he was seven, they decided it was time to let him decide what his instrument was going to be, and he immediately decided he wanted to play the cello, partly because it sounded nice and partly because he liked the idea of playing an instrument that was almost as big as he was. (When he learned that cellos came in different sizes and his first one would be smaller than the one he'd been looking at, he was a bit disappointed, and asked if it was too late to learn the tuba. He got over it eventually, though.)

As he breezed through his mandatory schooling, Radek quickly proved that music wasn't his only talent, although his admirable performance might have had something to do with the fact that he didn't really get out much, and if his academics suffered, his parents would make him cut back on practice time until he got his grades up again. And by this point, he'd come to be very attached to his cello, and damned if he was going to let anything hold him back.

His parents have periodically pulled him from school for brief concert tours, and as a result he's come to be known in the Eastern European music world as a very promising concert cellist. His parents and instructors are quite sure he'll manage to become the next big thing once he finishes school and devotes himself to his musical career full time, but they also insist that he will, indeed, be finishing school before that.

He had originally assumed he would end up attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, but his parents decided it would be good for him to get out of the country and experience life somewhere else, and had him apply to a handful of schools and conservatories around Europe. He was accepted to several despite his young age, and before his parents could choose for him, told them that he wanted to attend the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin.

He's just moved there, where he's staying with an aunt (the widow of his mother's brother). She's much more permissive than his parents ever were, so Radek has a feeling that life in Berlin is going to be fun.

Unless those dreams about the city blowing up are for real, anyway.

Radek has always been somewhat sheltered. Maybe "somewhat" isn't the word for it, in fact. His parents, being overprotective and determined to squeeze every ounce of potential out of their little genius, kept him in and working hard at the expense of letting him actually have a social life. He doesn't really bear them any ill will over it, since he loves music and loves his cello over just about anything else - so being kept in to play it doesn't bother him much. Regardless of that, he's still rather excited over finally getting out from under their care to go to Berlin. He's not terribly well informed about how to go about this whole living on his own thing, but he's eager to learn and hopefully that'll be good enough.

He's normally fairly cheerful, although he's also quite detached - not so much because he has the kind of personality that prevents forming attachments, and more from the fact that he hasn't had the chance to really form many of them yet. It's likely that once he gets out and starts interacting with the world, he might finally get the chance to prove how clingy he can be when he decides he cares about something (see also: cello).

As a result of his power, from the time he was very young he's ended up wandering through quite a few gruesome dreams, which he hasn't quite realized aren't his own yet. As a result, he doesn't bat an eyelash at death, pain, and destruction, and he's come to assume that they're simply a very natural part of the order of things, despite how far outside his actual experience they are. He's actually very curious to see them outside the realm of dreams, in fact, since his parents made sure he never saw anything worse than a papercut.

Radek has always been small - the shortest kid in every class he's ever been in, the last one to hit his growth spurt (which he insists must still be going on, because he couldn't possibly be supposed to stay this short forever). He has gold eyes and light green hair that has always evaded his efforts to tame it - eventually his parents gave up and gave him a haircut with a deliberately messy look. His good moods seem to radiate right out of him; when he's happy, it seriously projects, and he smiles a lot and his body language is a lot more exaggerated, making him easy to notice. On his worse days, he seems to almost shrink back into himself, and he blends into a crowd.
